Yoga Day USA Saturday, January 24, 2009
Those of us who practice yoga regularly don't need to be convinced of its benefits. We have learned that it helps to keep us focused on the present and have discovered the power of the heightened connection it fosters between mind and body.
We know it helps to melt away stress, relax tight muscles and ease pain. We know that because when we practice our bodies function better, we breathe more deeply and deliver more oxygen to our cells, we are stronger, fitter, and more flexible. We know it even can help us manage our weight.
That's why Yoga Alliance created Yoga Day USA. The annual nationwide celebration was designed to raise awareness about yoga's benefits by offering free or low cost workshops in communities all across the country. Many events also are fundraisers for charitable organizations giving you two great reasons to participate. A local Yoga Day USA agenda is listed to the left.
There is a style of yoga to suit everyone regardless of your age, body type or fitness level. You don't need to be flexible. You just need to be open to the possibilities. Take the plunge. Attend a session and discover what yoga can do for your life! Non-profit Yoga Alliance is the leader in setting educational standards for yoga schools and teacher.
