Online Classes Are Now Available
To all my Yoga Students:
On Saturday afternoon, all Guilford County schools were cancelled for 2 next weeks. Already many other institutions did similar. Christ UMC follows the school schedule cancellations and all activities from services to small and large groups are now also cancelled. So, for now, we need to comply with the social distancing that will keep us all together in the long run.
I deliberated for a long time and checked around the city to understand what other studios and teachers were doing. I knew things might change and have been anticipating that the backup plan might need to be temporarily taking classes online. Thank you for your patience and willingness to be flexible - true yogis!
How to access classes online
1. Go to our class schedule to find classes available for online streaming.
Register online (ideally 2 hours before).
You will be sent a link to take the class 15-30min before it begins.
If you haven't already, download the ZOOM app. It is easy and free.
Turn on your video and sound.
We will email you a link to the drop-in classes shortly after class so you will have access to the recording for 24hours!
For all classes moving forward, we will aim to have a virtual class on the Zoom platform. Please create your own (free) Zoom account. If you are using an iPad, iPhone or Android, you will need to also download the Zoom app to your device. I will aim to teach the class all the way through the hour. I will address questions before or after, but I cannot stop until the class is over.
If anyone else wants to practice with us, they will need to go online to www.lifefityoga.com, and pay for the class of their choice, under the classes tab. If doing that very close to the start time, make sure to reach out to me, lifefityoga@gmail.com, in case I can add you to the streamed/live class - otherwise you may have to rely on the replay. During the 15 minutes before each class, I am setting up and may not be able to attend to new messages.
How to prepare
Have fun creating your practice space ahead of time! Be sure to have your props ready. Chair yoga classes will need a chair, a small ball, a strap and some students need a block. Beginner and Intermediate classes will need a yoga blanket, 2 blocks and a strap. Once we are able to resume meeting together for classes, our new way will be to have student come with their own props. On Saturday I will gladly meet folks in my driveway, 9 - 11 am, to give out props. Please message me in advance for any of the following at lifefityoga@gmail.com.
Straps $14
Blocks $14 new, $10 classroom block
Blankets $25
Franklin ball $25
Spiky ball $6.50/small green, $8.50/medium yellow
Various diffusers and essential oils
Toe socks $16
OnGuard Hand Sanitizer $15
Immunity Power roller ball blend $15
Think of where in your home you want to practice and just before the class, I will send you a link by email. Click on the link in order to "join the meeting" and enter the password in the email and you will be added to the online class meeting.
What to expect
I will put you all in "mute mode" as you arrive on screen (so as to eliminate the background noise of each person). You all will appear in boxes around the periphery of the screen so we will be together! You will be streaming the class so it will not take up space on your computer. I will record the practice so that you are able to then replay the class, and practice again...until next week, when we will have another set of classes,... more yoga practice together!
The replay will take a short while to get sent to me, and then I will send it to you by the end of the same day, to all the paying students who are a regular part of this class.
I am learning along the way with you. It might be a little awkward the first time or two, but we will refine it together - in advance, I thank you for your feedback. Take a picture of your practice space, send in your testimonial and post on the Life Fit Inc social media. Send something for me to read to your class for our contemplation time at the end. All of these ways and more will keep us in community and using our practice to stay resilient in this time of uncertainty!
Thank you for your willingness to venture forward, embrace change, and practice yoga with consistency at this time of uncertainty. I am resolving to do my best so that we can stay strong together. I will also try to send some attachments for you to practice.
I look forward to seeing you all... virtually!
Sending love and peace,
Mona Flynn
