Staying Strong Together this Fall
How is it October already? 2020 has brought so many hurdles, breaking many norms, but it will not break us, we will still leap forward. 2020 has brought unprecedented adversity; adversity has never stopped us before. Even though we are separated, we are connected more than ever before. We are realizing just how much connection counts, both on and off the mat.
Everything we do matters. BKS Iyengar, guru of our yoga practice lineage, once said, “Action is movement with intelligence. The world is filled with movement. What the world needs is more conscious movement, more action.” So what do we do now? Answer: our best.
Whatever we face, we should do it with hard work, with honesty and along the way help others the best we can. Viktor Frankl, survivor of three concentration camps, wrote and spoke on the meaning of life, “the world is asking you that question. Your job to answer with your actions.” The only poor choice is to give less than one is capable of giving. Long ago, a teacher’s guidance was to see joy in even the daily mundane tasks. The lesson involved a quote which has stayed with me, “I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy,” Rabindranath Tagore. Inspiring words to fuel our way forward. What moves you to right action?
